Furnace and heat-pump repair

Cold house, noisy furnace or a heat pump that will not keep up? We work through the cause and explain the sensible next step.

How we can help

Restore the heat safely and reliably.

We repair gas furnaces, electric air handlers and heat-pump systems throughout the service area. Whether the equipment will not start, shuts down on a safety or runs without keeping the house comfortable, we diagnose the complete sequence of operation.

Heating problems can come from ignition components, controls, airflow, motors, safety switches, heat-pump refrigeration or auxiliary heat. We identify the cause and explain the repair before work begins.

What we look at

The whole system matters.

  • Thermostat calls and control-board sequence
  • Ignition, flame sensing and gas-furnace safeties
  • Blower operation and airflow restrictions
  • Heat-pump defrost and auxiliary heat
  • Temperature rise and safe final operation

Straight answers

Safe heat with clear options

Heating repairs must restore both comfort and safe operation. We test the equipment after the repair and tell you when age, repeated failures or a major component makes replacement worth comparing. Full-system replacement estimates are free.

Common questions

Heating repair FAQs

Do you work on both furnaces and heat pumps?

Yes. Ottaway Mechanical services gas furnaces, electric air handlers, standard heat pumps and cold-climate heat-pump systems.

Why does my furnace start and then shut back off?

Common causes include flame-sensing problems, airflow restrictions, pressure-switch issues and safety-limit operation. The system needs to be tested to determine which condition is actually stopping it.

Is auxiliary heat always a problem?

No. Some auxiliary heat is normal during cold weather or recovery from a large temperature change. Constant auxiliary heat in mild weather can indicate a control, airflow or heat-pump problem.

Repair or replacement?

Service and diagnostic visits are paid. Estimates for full equipment replacement or new installation are free.
